Unacceptable Losses

Xander is destroying himself with guilt because of something that is revealed during the story. Xander is lost and self-destructive and utterly blaming himself for not being able to save everyone else. It's set after the ending of both series and has BDMS and Dom/sub

Holy HELL. I'm still sobbing.

Wonderful story you got me addicted to. Xander....*cries some more*

Isn't it wonderful. I can so totally believe that a demon Xander WOULD blame Buffy, and I can so totally believe that would destroy Xander utterly.

Yay! Someone else who loves! I've been meaning to rec this story for days; she's got up to part 18 on her lj -- like almost done, really -- and it's just excellent work. Her writing is tight and lovely and her angst makes me whimper. And you know this, clearly, but still :)

She's on lj? How do I not know this?

Sorry, not getting comments -- yeah, she's on lj as speakingsilence.

Oh hell, I was crying for Xander's pain. My jaw dropped when she revealed how Xander had killed her (although her foreshadowing with the teeth left me thinking some sort of wish!verse thing had happened). And then when he said he'd hated her... wanted to hurt her... *sob*

I needed reminding that was up; I was half way into it when I had to go do seventy thousand other things and forgot to go back.

It's also here on her website "Dreaming Sideways".

Julia, I also like "Cause and Effect", another of her WIPs, but she takes a long time to update

That's why I avoid WIP's.... I just don't have the patience for them (and horrible to say) I forget the plotline and just forget to read them. This one was just "complete" enough for me to feel okay with reading it even if I don't get back and finish it up. In fact, I may avoid reading more until it is finished if she updates slow.

And you spoil us for other WIPs with your many and timely and tasty updates! Go you!

No hack, I'm just obsessed. If I know more than three days about updating, and I feel like I've forgotten to do something

I've got the bad habit of buzzing my way through all the short/complete fics in a fandom and being left with nothing but WIPs to choose from.

I am not a good enough person not to feel sort of offended by dropped WIPs and long lapses between updates, either, nor sane enough not to feel that 39 weeks of writing twice-weekly updates buys me the right to have fics I'm reading be updated regularly. Magical thinking: too bad it doesn't really work.

Julia, really too sleepy to read or write at the moment

Wow. I'm hardly deserving of such high praise from a writer who has taught me much about writing angst and character conflict/suffering -- your 'Beautiful Broken' series rates so very high on my list of fav fics. At the same time, of course, I'm grinning like a fucking loon here that my fic would be noticed and recc'd!! Yep. Grinning. Loon.

Well you deserve the praise. That story is utterly beautiful and utterly cry-worthy. And I am equally tickled him that you would be so fond of how I make Xander suffer.

Well I'm just glad you're enjoying it. I loved it so much I had to share the joy!

Seriously? When you say "angst", you really should say, "do not read any part of this before going to work, as you'll be going with red splotches on your face from crying." And I only read 4 chapters before I went to work!

God, thank you so much for the rec. It's great! I emailed the author afterwards to let her know how much I enjoyed it!

That's the great thing about fanfic - let the authors know how much you love something and they'll write more! I love giving feedback!

*snuggles*

I know! It's such a dark, sad little world she's created. There's really something wrong with me that I will love it when it's dark and sad. And you know, fanfic writers are pretty predictable. Feed them feedback and they turn into regular little Energizer bunnies. Or at least I do I know ;-)
