Miss Dolphinia scanned the email. Reading official documents on changes in liquor license enforcement was hardly entertaining, but she had responsibilities. Boring ones. And being a good business owner meant that she tended to them in a timely manner.

A Briarwood Agency Story

Briarwood is a New York agency that provides only the best assistants to select clients up and down the east coast. If one wants a quick roll in the hay, other agencies with their escorts will do. But if one wants to indulge in some truly deliciously perversion, the sort that might ruin your life if it were to get out to the press, then one can only trust the Agency assistants.

John has avoided bottoming for men in the seven years he’s worked for the Agency. He sees it as a mark of distinction between him and the other assistants. However, when Derek Davis, the son of a famous movie director and a man with more money than God makes a request, the Agency does its best to fill it. Davis wants a man who is uncomfortable with bottoming to not only bottom, but to do it wearing the bridle and saddle. John needs money, the Agency needs to maintain their reputation as being able to provide anything, and Davis has an itch that can only be scratched in the saddle.

Seriously, I have other work to do, so this is the last of this universe (at least for a while). Does anyone have a good plot bunny repellant sitting around?

Title: The Morning After (Part Two)   [[Part One is over HERE]]

Summary: Liam enjoyed his post on the small planet of Prarownt, and he liked trading with the Rownt people, Ondry in particular. However, when a new officer makes him miserable, he finds that there's more to Ondry than he ever suspected, and culture rules are sometimes less clear than one little linguist might think.

Warning: dub-con, but no sex. I have no idea where this bunny came from, but it just sort of flew out of me and onto the page.

And now Desert World Allegiances is OUT. I actually have a review on this one already, and it only came out yesterday.

Anyway, this one is more science fiction than romance, but with gay protagonists and a world where sexuality is more open and accepted, this is a m/m version of science fiction. This one is the one that I said had a tone somewhere between Beautiful Broken and Kin!Verse. Like in BB, the main character is struggling to recover from abuse and this is about finding strength inside. However, like in Kin!Verse, these two characters refused to jump into bed. They wanted to get to know each other, test each other, understand each other... there's a slowness to the relationship. If you've read this, please consider giving me a review on one of the sites. Even mediocre reviews can help readers understand what is good (or not good) about a story. After all, if you say you didn't like "x" another reader might love that very plot device.

Let's try this again. Livejournal is being bitchy today.

Despite the fact I have a half-dozen originals already started, I think this may be my next. What do you guys (honestly) think?

Mountain Prey

Stunt Folger has a good life as a forestry technician. He can tend his beloved Appalachian mountains by day and drive to the city when he needs a little kinky fun. Other than a few moonshiners who just hate federal employees for philosophical reasons, he doesn't have a problem in the world. However, walking the trails puts him in the center of danger when he runs into Justin Soto, a man out for revenge. Just out of prison, Justin knows first hand that the justice system doesn't treat poor and rich equally, so when he sets his sights on avenging his brother's death, he goes outside the law. However, when an innocent man lands in the middle of his plans, he doesn't know what to do... other than take him hostage. And sadly, that's only the start of how strange this adventure is about to get.

Chapter One )

Chapter Two )

Let me know what you think because now is the time to tweak the characters and/or hook.
Just to keep you guys in the loop, I have two books coming out in the next month.

Desert World Allegiances is the first book in the Desert World series. (Desert World Rebirth is already written and it's in the long, long process of going from draft to book).

The tone is hard to describe... part Beautiful Broken with an abused man discovering that being hurt doesn't mean giving up and that power comes in all forms. This is slave-fic, and it's not the fun sort of slavery. But more than that, I think this has almost a Kin 'verse vibe. These two spend the entire first book getting to know each other as people. They have to know and trust one another before the sex becomes possible in Desert World Rebirth. And both of them have to do some serious changing to find a way to make room for love in their lives.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Out on September Fifth

Being condemned to slavery is a common enough occurrence on the desert planet of Livre, but this time, priest Shan Polli is determined to prevent the corrupt, soul-eating system from destroying one more life. Temar Grazer was sentenced for what amounted to a criminal prank—but Shan soon finds that the dangers extend far beyond Temar’s crime.

Caught between guilt and hope, Shan must find his true path in either the priesthood or in a man whose strength and survival defies the odds. Can the two men unravel a plot that threatens the entire world before Temar is broken by a system of slavery that has twisted out of control?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Insistent Hunger definitely has a darker Buffy vibe.  The mythology is more Eastern European, but the vampires are generally nasty and very disturbing, and even the one vampire we like has an edge to him that makes him feel a little unstable to me... as if you can see Angelus peeking out from behind the much more submissive Angel.  And I think some of the Buffy vibe comes from Paige.  She's a woman in her forties, but she isn't much thrown by having to fight back the forces of darkness... okay, she is but she recovers quickly.  She's a "doer" rather than someone who stands back and lets others do for her, so this has maybe a Trickster vibe.  A little edgy... not quite sure you like the "hero" and someone with no powers definitely determined to get the upper hand.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Out on August 31

Paige has a small life in a small town, and that's fine with her. She's happy with her chickens, her job as a police officer and her questionable home-improvement skills. However, when her rookie partner shows up on her doorstep one night, everything changes. He's panicked, bloody, dead and still begging for help. And Paige is feeling an unfamiliar desire, a primal need for her partner that leaves her shaken and out of control.

Brady's dark good looks have attracted the attention of a monster, but that doesn't mean he has to become a monster. Instincts might whisper about dark thoughts, but he’s trusted Paige with his life on the streets, and he'll trust her now. If trusting her means fighting this visceral need to be in her bed, he'll even try to ignore a growing hunger for this woman.

Okay, I'm starting to get nervous now. I usually have some comments by now, but Lines in the Sand has nothing over at Dreamspinner or Amazon, and only five people have rated it at Goodreads. *frets* This is why I'm painfully shy in real life... I have issues. And I fret. And I worry way too much. And I wouldn't want to be around me when I'm in this mood.
I'm late for work... but I had to stop and tell you, the novella is officially out today!

Three years ago, Carl Ragar turned on the mob. His conscience couldn’t handle the murder of an innocent bystander, and he had to turn his back on his mentor, Petroc “Pete” Barbu, a man he’d admired and lusted after. Pete made no apologies for his job as an enforcer, but he’d never planned to get himself or Carl involved in the murder of a reporter. When Carl turned state’s evidence, Pete couldn’t even pretend to be surprised.

Now Pete’s still on the run, and Carl is unceremoniously dumped out of witness protection. Two men tangled in their own pasts, they will have to face the shifting moral lines in the sand that drove them to make disastrous choices. Once Pete and Carl were partners who trusted each other with their lives—now they’re struggling to save their souls.

A/N So many of you made comments that my muse was tickled into following up on this idea. So, I've tried to smooth over some of the edges y'all noted last time. I made enough changes that I'm reposting chapter one, although you can skip down to the point where it says 2. for the second chapter.

Summary: Gary Clayton is good at hiding behind a façade of confident heterosexuality, at least most of the time. At least until now. Now he’s stuck in a job with Lock Roma, a man who seems to have taken an instant dislike to him and worse, he’s everything Gary wants to be—independent, strong, and openly gay. For his part, Lock never expects fair. Life has kicked him in the balls too often for that; however, he’s good at laughing at life and himself. Sometimes people doubt his ability to swing a whip because of his humor and his vertically challenged body, but he can Dom with the best. He’s never wanted to do more than play, though. However, both men are about to learn that appearance can be deceiving, and love is a nasty little bugger with a sense of humor sharp enough to sting.

I'm almost finished with my desert world slave fic. Oddly, my characters haven't managed to have sex. Shan is too invested in the church and at odds with himself over whether he should leave the priesthood. Temar is too damaged and is struggling to recover from the sexual abuse that threatened to destroy him. My guys are reaching out for each other, needing each other and supporting each other... they just aren't ready to get in bed.

So, do I make this some huge mega story (keep in mind this is already 80K) or do I end with this growing awareness of love and leave the sex to a sequel (which I would obviously have to write quickly??)

You know, considering the tone of this is almost Beautiful Broken with a strong but formerly quiet man finding strength in survival, I really am shocked at the lack of sex.
I retitled my latest vampire girl/boy book "Hunger" and sent it off to Ellora's Cave today. Fingers crossed.
Oh So Tired....
                                    but

My first piece of professional femdom is out today.

Tom is a soldier and sniper on a ship tracking space terrorists. Despite being unlucky at love, he hopes to catch the eye of a crewmate.

Da’shay, an exotically beautiful alien with her own very strange ideas, keeps ruining his plans. While Tom loves playing trust games in the bedroom, where he’s happy to let a woman take complete erotic control, in real life he never trusts easily. Da’shay is no exception to that rule.

But when danger forces Tom to rely on Da’shay, he finds himself drawn to more than just her body. Her strength and her suffering intrigue him. As the conspiracies and blowback threaten the entire crew, Tom finds his loyalties and his love starting to turn toward the one woman he never would have expected.

The tone is Fireflyesque, although this is a FTL universe with a number of alien species, at least one of which is fond of creating genetic "half-breeds" and a second who can't understand the concept of death... like Ducky from NCIS, they keep right on talking to the dead.  Tom is brilliant with weapons and tech, and he completely sucks when it comes to women, which is why he prefers hiring a doxy (prostitute).  But you know my women... they rarely sit around and wait for the hero. It's so much fun to chase the hero down and tie him up.  Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] ctrl_issue , don't worry, in my world, tying up is fun, non-con never, ever is.
And it's OUT!

Do you feel a need for a little angst, a little confusion, a little group sex with four hot men?
Casey feels unlucky in love
Amadi is a stranger trying to find his way
Nathan is the lone wolf who is suddenly not so lonely
Vince is the laid-back stoner who can't keep himself out of trouble

And their lives will soon intersect. Oh... did I mention werewolves?
Good news...

I just got a release date!! My newest book is out February 2. This one is only about 53K words, so it's a novella and this is my one and only menage book.

Long, Lonely Howl is my foray into the wild and furry world of werewolves. It focuses on a ragtag and unconventional pack shown on the cover.  I really lucked out with such an amazing cover.  Click on the cut an you can see a large version of the cover and the blurb.

I have to squee... the new book cover is in, and OH MY GOD.

The book comes out August 20, and I'm doing a virtual book signing for Dreamspinner. That means that Friday afternoon/night I'll be at the Dreamspinner Facebook with excerpts and contests, and you'll be able to buy a signed copy of the paperback from the site. I have to say I'm more excited about this one than Urban Shaman, and I don't know if that's because this story is more in my element (BDSM) or if it's all the resources the publisher is putting behind it.

Fair warning, I put the full sized jpeg behind the cut because I am just entirely too fond of this picture.  This is Vinnie to me--young, cocky, searching for love when he hasn't found himself.  He is so sure that the has his head together, and from the outside, he so does NOT.

This is the story that did start NCIS, but half way through I realized that I wasn't writing Tony anymore.  My Vinnie really doesn't have that much in common with Tony... nothing except the arrogance.  It's funny, I have no urge to turn my fanfic to original, but this story went there without me trying.  I really think it was because I was using original names (like Vinnie), and calling someone by another name seems to give that character another life.  They take on traits and lives of their own.  I know people have said that if I replaced every "Xander" in the Kin series, it would still look like Xander.  I wonder... if I had been thinking "Xander" but I called him "Danny," would Danny have taken on a life apart from his fanfic origins.  Hmmmmm... I'm obviously thinky today.  Anyway, back to the SQUEEEEEE
