Drusilla floated through the night following a flock of silver birds whose bodies flashed like diamonds and made her miss the sun. Reaching up with a hand, she scattered them and then laughed as they reformed in the air, hovering like hummingbirds before transforming into silver threads that tied her to the stars and clung to her as she spun.
"Pretty ones all needing to be cut, cut, cut," she sang as she stopped near the tree. Her boy was there, still effulgent even without his soul, the light shining out… out… out. But no more nasty amulet for him. No, her boy had found a boy and he would turn her William's light into a fire that wouldn't burn him.
"I can't believe you got me to agree to this. I’m so getting arrested," the boy-king complained, and Dru smiled as she waltzed with the tree, the silver threads tangling in the green branches.
"You bloody love it, pet, fess up."
"I never said I didn't, I just said I'm going to get arrested," the boy-king protested, his gold effulgence tangling with William's brilliant white light. But the kitten king tottered. Dru moved closer, seeing a woman's form dancing in the light with the boys.
"A dancing ménage a trois all tangled up," Dru sang as she came out from behind the tree. The kitten pulled at his pants, struggling to get them up, and Dru laughed at the images that danced across his form. The fierce kitten teetered one way toward and then back again, close… close… oh so close.
"Dru?" Spike called her, and she danced to her effulgent prince.
"Pretty boy for my pretty boy," she sang her approval, but Spike only tilted his head in that way that told her he couldn't hear the stars. Miss Edith laughed so loudly that Drusilla could hear her from way across the town. She laughed back as she felt those strong arms at her waist.
"Pet, what are you doin' here?" Spike asked, and Dru lay her head on his shoulder as she looked at him.
"Isn't nice to come to a party without a gift. I brought a gifty," she whispered. "Shhhh. Mustn't tell. It's a secret." Drusilla pranced away and focused on the tilting prince.
"Hey, um, no present required, really. I'm big with the getting forgotten on days of traditional gift giving," the boy king said as he retreated to her Spikey's side. Like Spike he had all these forms dancing around in his light and Drusilla reached out to touch one. She laughed as the sunlight dancing around the prince lit her skin in golden colors without burning her.
"Tilting, tilting. Always tilting. Always there like a little fire burning beneath your skin all waiting to come out and burn you all up," she explained seriously as she reached out to push the tipping figure. Before her hand could touch, Spike grabbed her wrist.
"Not for eatin', this one," he said seriously, and Dru laughed.
"Too much light, he'd burn my tummy, silly," she answered. "But I have to give the gift, not polite to keep my gift away."
"Oh hey, I'm thinking I really don't mind."
Dru reached forward again, and this time Spike didn't stop her as she reached for the two figures entwined in the light and pushed. The figure tilted and rocked and then settled. Dru clapped her hands in joy.
"Oh shit. No. Spike, make her fix this!" Dru looked at Spike, still clapping her hands to the rhythm the stars made.
"Pet," Spike started, and both the kitten and Dru looked to him. "Maybe you should…" he stopped as he swallowed.
"Maybe she should give me back my cock?!" the kitten nearly yelled, and Drusilla bounced on the balls of her feet.
"A pretty girl, a pretty boy all tilty-whirly, and now I've given you my present," Drusilla turned and started following a new school of flying lights.
"Oh no, Spike. Stop her. I have breasts again. I don't want breasts again."
"Now, pet…" Drusilla danced away to the sounds of their voices, their combined effulgence lighting her path through the trees.

Date: 2006-03-06 05:38 am (UTC)I had to laugh, when I read this I couldn't help but wonder if like, Dru made it so that Xander's a girl at night and a guy during the day or if she switches. You know, even days with a dick, odd ones with boobs. This is just SO much fun!

Date: 2006-03-07 12:18 pm (UTC)One of the things I love about your stories is that they always have the potential to sprout new growth and go off in new directions. I'd actually forgotten about this story, and now I'm going to have to go back and re-read.
