I need a new eye. My het story (I'm 40K into the rough) is turning out to be more and more about this Lakota family.

I would hate to say truly stupid things that would offend a group. Is there anyone who is Lakota or who has strong ties that might give me a quick read (no editing, just general content), and tell me if I'm being horribly insensitive at any point?

It is scifi, so the culture is projected into the future, but they are pretty adamant about hanging onto their heritage, so I would hope they would be at least culturally related to current Lakota.

Not Lakota, but am Western Cherokee. I would like to think I'm sufficiently aware of general American Indian cultural issues to notice 'horribly insensitive' but I can't offer any guarantees specific to the Lakota (I do know a few Lakota words and am familiar with some of the spiritual beliefs and practices). If you don't get any actual Lakota volunteers, I'd be glad to read it over for you, bearing in mind my aforementioned limitations.
