Oh, but in the demons' eyes, he did screw up. Xander has no idea whether he won or not, but the demon trainer made it very clear that when he fought back, he broke the rules. I just happen to agree with you that Spike is far less likely to be pissed about the fighting and far more likely to want to snap the other slave's neck!
