Okay, this episode gets its own review. It was good. Really good.
Lazarus Rising
Shades of Buffy, waking up in a coffin. I’m starting to see why people cross the two so much. Whoa… from the grass, Dean’s been dead a while. So, what stupid thing did Sam do? Both these boys need a keeper. WTF? What flattened all the trees? So, the electrical stuff going wonky, does that mean something supernatural is coming or has Dean become supernatural? He was in hell for a while. I would think that changes someone. Well, Sam clearly wasn’t the knucklehead to pulled him out of hell. Poor Kathy/Christy… Sam really has turned into Dean, horndogging and all. I agree with Bobby—the demons have something nasty planned or they wouldn’t have let Dean out. I wonder if it has anything to do with Sam’s immunity—they can’t get to him, so they bring back his Achilles’ heel.
I do have a problem with the “psychic” conjuring. The ability to do that comes either from gods (Odin) or demons. So… where is she getting her power? Okay, so there’s a power that will burn a person’s eyes out. Greek mythology connects blindness to either punishment of the evil or soothsaying. Jesus heals the blind. Some mythologies say that you can’t look at anything grand or godly, and Medusa turned people into stone… although that’s not what’s going on. Hmmmm. Perky nipples, Dean quips at the demon lady… Oh Dean. Months in hell and you still are as irreverent as ever.
Oh wow. Sam is not only still working with Ruby (who I don’t like as much in this new girl’s body) but he is also using his mojo to “think” demons into hell. Oh yeah. That’s trouble.
“We need to talk dean. Alone.” Yeah, like Dean has any choice. Wait… he’s an angel. The original fallen angels were some of the most powerful, so a regular old angel can’t go into their territory and steal their prey. Either he’s more powerful that a plain old angel or he’s spinning a line of bull. Why did he assume Dean could perceive his true form? What is going on? Dean has to do God’s work? Hm. Well that sets up an interesting dynamic because Sam seems set on working with demons, ie Ruby. However, I’m not so sure Dean isn’t setting himself up to do the same.
Okay, overall I really have enjoyed this episode a LOT. It set up a lot of mysteries that I want the answers to.

The warehouse has symbols of protection from at least 14 different mytholigies maybe more. That was a lot of research
About getting Dean out of hell Castiel says that the "angels fought their way in" starting when Dean died. It took 4 months to rescue him. So Cas wasn't alone. On an odd note pictures of. Dean in hell show an optical effect that looks like his amulet. Sadly that was not on purpose.
I love Castiel''s Entrance hear it consistently ranks as best character intro in polls, and not just because fans vote
Great opening to a great season
