Okay, Moonridge is approaching. I already donated a Blairgasm for the anthology... a short 850 word epilogue to Prisoner X. Now, I'm thinking of doing something different for my second piece. There was a lot of interest in my story: With an X and a Y and an X, X, X. I'm thinking of doing a set of stories set in that universe that follows Jim and Blair and their daughters. I'm aiming for 10,000 to 30,000 words plus graphics (one or two manips, images of the girls, and some floorplans for the new loft) and a timeline of the general shape of the universe. I would have to put this into PDF to keep the formatting in place

So, 1) Would this be as interesting as a straight fic

and 2) How much should I ask each person donate to the Moonridge zoo in return for this?

If it is 10-30 thousand words with pics, floorplans and a time line and looking at what you are asking for your first piece. I would think you should ask about 50 dollars as a starting bid.

For the pics and floorplan about 25 dollars.
For the story and timeline about 25 dollars.

Good luck at the auction.

This isn't going to be an auction item. Anyone with a set amount will get a copy of this... floorplan, pics, story, timeline and all. I want to price it low enough to get as many takers as possible and high enough to bring in money for Moonridge.

Sounds like it's worth fifty dollars but ... not sure how many could afford that. I've found that $25 is about as high as you can go and still get quite a few people donating to get it. We offered two stories last year in the Shaman's Journey universe for $35 and we got a fair number of responses but not nearly as many as less expensive items. Ultimately, I guess it balances out in that fewer people need to respond at a higher dollar value but ... well, it's also about how many people you want to have exclusive access for a while.

That's good to know. I may take Bumpkin's advice and charge 25 for the fic, but an additional 10 if you want the manips, pictures, and floorplans. Thanks.

That makes sense. I still think 50 is reasonable though. If you feel it is too much make it 25 dollars. But there is a good chance it won't bring in that much money. And this is important for the animals. Anyone there who has seen your work will snatch it up. Hell if I had the money I would snatch it up myself.

I'm just afraid that too many people will see a high price tag and choose something else. But you're right that we want to bring in as much as we can for the zoo. So, I think I'll offer a plain version for 25, but then offer a bonus version with flooplans, pictures, and manips for 35 or even 45... that way I can try for both price points at once.

Go with a single bill? Say $20 for the fic and timeline, and an extra $10 gets the floorplans and graphics. The $20 would be just for the document version - the $30 for the Pdf version that had it all. (I am just thinking that having the two options gives ppl a choice for those who would rather just the straight fic option, which I think the timeline would be part of) and for those who like the nifty gegaws they wouldn't mind spending a little more. What do you think?

That's a really good idea. I can try for both the low end and higher end bitters at once. Good job!

Awww. Thank you so much. I really do want to help the zoo since they're trying to move, so hopefully others feel the same.

I'd buy it

I'd buy it

In fact - consider this the first bid.

If you set it at $50 I'll buy just that story.

If you set it at $25 ( which I consider more the price point ) I'll put the extra $25 towards something else. (And if you do TWO stories, the second will BE that something else *grin* )

I think I"m going to take bumpkin's advice. The timeline and the story will be a straight $25, but then the bonus version with floorplans, pictures, and manips of the guys with their daughters will run either $35 or $40.
