Blair's liberal instincts are definitely being triggered here. He doesn't want to believe Alex was a criminal, he doesn't want to think goa'uld are inherently bad. He's a flower child. And sometimes that's good, and sometimes it's not. The bonding stuff comes up next chapter, and I agree that she chose those reports carefully.
