I am a very visual person, and I think that shows in my action sequences. I can "see" what's happening, and I want ya'll to "see" it too.
Xander isn't apologetic for the little things (although he probably did apologize for getting snotty enough with Giles to earn a real spanking). I think you're right that he's more confident because he doesn't feel inferior to anyone. He chose to give himself to Spike, and he feels like he did that out of strength, which gives him confidence.
And when Xander hung back, I was really trying to show that while she doesn't remember what happened, Xander does. He won't ever push her away because he understands her and respects her, but he probably won't ever be as openly affection to her as Spike because of their shared past. He may have processed through the guilt, but he is still going to be aware of the fact that he was used TO rape her.
And everyone is slowly getting better. BTW, I *didn't* remember the ST Amanda reference, but now that you say it, I remember it. Like Xander, I think that probably subconciously influenced my choice for a baby name. The Geek-Force flows strong through more than just the one ;-)
