*sniff* WOOBIE!!!!!

And I kinda feel almost a little sorry for Dareh. One way or another, he was doomed to fail against The Power Of Xander, though of course Xan will conclude that he didn't have anything to do with it. PETA, Dareh, check it out. Read up on the Emancipation Proclamation and related texts, too.

Very in character. And ... not a bluff, I don't think. Perhaps a vague hope that he wouldn't have to go through with it, but I'm reminded of "I like the quiet" Xander from The Zeppo. That wasn't a bluff either.

::basks in Love Of Xander::

I also enjoyed Angel's shock and Xander's snarky little thought about how clueless the Brooding One is.

I am relieved and happy that Xander is gonna be free again. I am also still extremely worried about Spike. 'Cause Xander needs his Spike.

Spike!!!

Back to Dareh. That sequence by the side of the road and back at the farm was great. It was truly fascinating to see more evidence of the kinder, gentler side of evil demonic slaveholding, and to see that Dareh was sincere about his "good intentions". And it was so totally right that Xander never was able to believe him, that he continued to expect obvious cruelty (as opposed to the general but unintentional cruelty of the whole system).

Myself, I think the worst part was the hand bindings. It actually brought out my claustrophobia and I could feel myself twitch every time it was mentioned. Plus, as humans, our ability to manipulate objects and tools with our hands is one of our defining characteristics; depriving humans of that ability is to take away a solid chunk of our humanity. Also, just thinking about not being able to scratch made me itch. *g*

I'm sorry that your Muse is being uppity. I hope you're still able to get everything you need to do done. But I'm also way happy to see more story and to see Xander rescued from slavery again.

Now, we all want SPIKE!!! Spike, Spike, Spike, Spike, Spike!

*grin* Happy holiday prep day!
