I don't normally read slave fics, I usually find for some reason they have Spike as the slave with an owner who enjoys torturing/breaking him. I became addicted to this story through Beautiful Broken and am totally addicted to Broken Revenge. I find your writing moving and emotionally satisfying.The necessary 'slave' features are dealt with sensitively and in enough detail to make the reader aware of his suffering, but I have to say I haven't been particularly 'squicked' by them. Your characterization of Xander and Spike, their emotions, motivations and thoughts are brilliant.
Xander's vulnerability and strength are portrayed believably as is Spike's and I personally feel his treatment of Xander is absolutely spot on. Rightly or wrongly, I view this as a love story, set amid a background of adversity.
I wanted to thank you for writing it and to say how sorry I am that you have been flamed. No-one forces people to read fan-fiction and your warnings are more than adequate. I can only assume that the people who flamed you are either jealous of your talent or idiots unable to understand the warnings attached to the story.
I eagerly look forward to the next chapter. Please make Spike be ok!! :)
