...not that your synopsis wasn't wonderful..it was. I just think to truly get a flavor of Spike..and Spike as a Lover you have to remember his famous "love's bitch" speech.
Spike is a fighter. He lives the undead life loud..but he still retains the soul of a poet and he understands the heavenly madness of love. In the episode "Lover's Walk" where he tries to get Willow to do the love spell to win back Dru; he makes this speech which reveals him almost to the core. He makes this speech after fighting Buffy and Angel who are trying to be in the same town, fighting the good fight, fighing each other and trying to pretend they are "just friends" (knowing they can never be more or it's a repeat of Angelus being free again). Spike says:
"You're not friends. You'll never be friends. You'll be in love till it kills you both. You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other until it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends. Love isn't brains, children, it's blood -- blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it."
I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it.
IMHO One of the most fundamental pieces to understanding Spike's psyche as a lover and Spike in love.
One little thing to add
