"I would rather have Xander beat up on emotionally than let Tara get shot. It killed me in canon that you had a raping murderer and they did nothing to stop him because he was human. Dude. The trio is NOT comic relief. But now I have gotten rid of all three."
A-MEN on all counts. The morality of deadly force depends greatly on the availability of options, of which there were NONE. Police? Nope. Rehab? How, exactly, if you couldn't even get him arrested? I suppose you could give him a magical lobotomy; would Tara do that? Would Xander ask her to do that? --About Ben: I always thought Joss took the cheap out by having Ben make a deal with Glory, thereby making him a non-innocent. It would have been better writing if Giles had killed him in his lamb-white innocence, strictly to save the whole world. THERE is a hard duty.
Xander takes responsibility
