You know... I think one reason I'm not writing as much is because I'm just not challenged. Kink Bingo moved over to Dreamwidth where I have no interesting in following, Taming the Muse is not as challenging these days, and no one else has done anything else like Fanfic 100. So, I'm going to make my own challenge. If you want to follow along, I'm including instructions under the cut. The next post I put up will let my readers challenge me, and tempt my muse to come out of hiding a little more often.

The Rules

First, if you want to play, post your challenge card in your journal BEFORE your flist gives you prompts. Yes, your flist will give you prompts, so your card could be ridiculously easy or impossibly hard--incredibly safe or kinky as hell. It's up to your flist. And that is why you have to post the card first, and no putting the numbers into order after seeing what insane thing your flist comes up with. After all, if you get to manipulate your friends' prompts into a nice convenient order, that ruins the challenge. Your card should look something like this:

Actually, it can look exactly like that if you want. Feel free to steal that card or make one of your own using the following rules and graphics.

Rule ONE: Writing in Order
You must write the stories in order. Now you have a choice to go right to left by rows or to go left to right by rows (like you're reading Arabic) or even clear it top to bottom (like you're reading Chinese). However, once you pick a pattern (I'm going to start at the top left and do them in rows), you don't get to change that order.

Rule TWO: Word Length
Each story must be at least 500 words and must use the prompt from your flist (which means you can't start until your flist has given you 36 prompts), but you can combine as many prompts as you want as long as each prompt still generates 500 words. So if your story includes three prompts, it must be 1,500 words to count.

Rule THREE: Respect the special tiles! If you make your own card, you have to have these three special tiles in these amounts.

The spiral (one of them)
The spiral can go under any four adjacent squares, but once you do that, you must somehow link those four stories. You could make each story a different point of view on the same conflict. You could make each story a different example of motherhood. You could have all the prompts in the same story, but in that case you would have to include all the intervening prompts as well. Get creative.

The bells (two of them)
These stories must include the prompt AND some aspect of a holiday celebration. You may choose any holiday, religious or secular, but you have to have something that relates to a holiday.

The flames (three of them)
These stories must include the prompt AND some aspect of sexual attraction or release. IN other words, we're looking for hot, but you can interpret that as the heat of a shy first kiss or an all out orgy with the entire cast of SGA, your choice.

Rule FOUR: Deadlines
There are none.  You post your stuff to your own journal.  I'm posting to my journal.  Writing is not a competitive sport.

Rule FIVE: Prizes
Give me a link to your finished tile and a list of two or three fandoms or subjects that you wrote about, and I'm sure I can find you a winner's graphic or two.  ;)  There will be a special graphic for anyone who can put all the prompts in order in the same story.

Rule SIX: Subjects
Write about anything that makes your heart happy--kinky, safe, fanfic, original, mysteries, porn... it's all good.

Rule SEVEN: Making your own card
You can make your own card any time BEFORE you have the list of prompts that your flist is giving you.  Once your flist has given you the list so that you know 25 is Greek revival and 8 is golden retriever puppies, you can't make yourself a new card and separate topics that don't make sense together if you're trying to combine prompts.  It's also not fair to look and see that prompt nine is "grandmother's blue hair," see the flames and suddenly change it.  You have to find a way to make grandmother's blue hair hot!

If you want, here is the basic graphic I used for making my card.  If you ask nicely BEFORE I go back to school, I could probably throw you out another card if you don't want to use mine but you do want something similar.

Rule EIGHT: Posting to your flist.
Once you decide you want to follow me into the land of crazy, post this to your flist.

Call me crazy, but I'm inviting everyone to poke my muse.  Below the cut, you'll find a "bingo card" with numbers in each of 36 squares.  I need 36 prompts so that I know what to write about, and that's where you come in.  I'm asking my flist to give me the toughest prompts they can (as a comment to this post)  in order to really tickle my muse with a little challenge.  The prompts have a couple of rules though, and it's important that you follow them.  If you don't, I'm going to have to delete your comment so that I can keep track of the numbers on the prompts.

1. There can only be ONE prompt per comment.  If you have more ideas, you can post up to three different prompts each in its own comment to this post, but you can't put multiple prompts into one comment.

2. Nothing can be fandom specific.  My muse will pick which fandom to put with each prompt (or whether to write original)

3. I'm going to limit these prompts to no more than rated ____, so please don't give me a prompt above my rating level.

4.  Specific prompts--a unique object, a specific action, a detailed location--are generally better than something so general that it doesn't tickle the muse.

5.  Variety is the spice of life, and a wide range of prompts really makes for the most challenge!
