In canon, Norman Ventriss covered with his son up to the end. He hired a high priced lawyer and put pressure on the university to fire Blair (which they did). He covered up for Brad and helped him flee once the evidence came in that he was involved with not only the rape, but theft from Questscape and murder. Jim ended up jumping out of a helicopter and into a boat. I just wanted him punished for that kind of crap.
