Weeeee... I made you lose clothing, and that is always a good thing. Xander is more comfortable with himself here... more comfortable with the fact that the powerful people he's around do stuff better. But his time with Angel has taught him that powerful people (like Angel) also have their own issues and he doesn't have to be physically stronger than them to help them. Therapy has done him good :)
In A:tS, we find out that during WWII, the US military blackmailed Angel into helping recover a Nazi sub with a "secret weapon" that turned out to be a trio of vampires, including Spike. So, I did take that from canon.
