I'm glad that you caught what was going on with Faith. I did struggle how to get that across because it wouldn't occur to Spike. As much as he's learning to interact with humans (and as much as he really does adore Faith), he just doesn't understand her issues. For him, it takes something as drastic as a soul or splitting clan ties to break a relationship. So, with nothing drastic going on, he really was clueless.
