May. 1st, 2011 08:11 pmWell, this is going to be interesting for Pakistani/US relations, which are already strained. At least the CIA redeemed itself after their agent ran down Pakistani civilians. However, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. I support the government's decision to kill Bin Laden 100%, but I do believe there will be a backlash.
ETA: Cheering? Please, people, remember that people died. Yes, Bin Laden had to die. He bred evil and posed a very real threat to innocent people. However, cheering death reflects poorly on the country. Death is sometimes necessary, but to celebrate it.... that makes me uneasy.
ETA: President Obama gave an utterly inspired speech... he's right, the public grief is nothing compared to the private grief of those families who lost someone. Today I am very proud of my president, I'm proud of the team that risked their lives on this mission, and I'm proud of the diplomats who managed the cooperation with Pakistan.
