Daniel and Blair do have a lot in common and probably have the easiest time communication although I find Blair and Jack the more interesting dynamic with the overt and covert attempts to secure power. And Jim sensed the closest goa'uld. At this point, he was still distracted by that weirdness because he hadn't identified the chimera effect that was bothering him.
