And then there was "my" story. (*squee* ::bounces up and down::) With credit, yet. (*squee* ::bounces up and down::) Why yes, I am crazy, thank you for asking. *grin*
Not only domestic, but kidfic! (Well, actually babyfic.) *swoons from joy* And from Trista's POV, which was just utterly inspired and brilliant. I love seeing our established canon characters from other/new POVs (which is why I'm such a sucker for crossovers, seeing two different sets of canon characters from other POVs for the price of one story, and knowing both sets of characters to begin with).
I really enjoyed the glimpse into Trista's mind, knowing that she's kinda there (except when she "forgets where (she) is") and conscious, and that it's almost a deliberate decision not to speak rather than just a trained-in behavior. And that she was conscious of what was happening while giving birth. Though, poor baby, I want to cuddle her for her fears about possibly being sent back (returned) after the baby was born. Perfectly understandable fears after what she'd been through.
And the device of having her thinking about/remembering names and their meanings. And her simple, clear thoughts about the Before and the dark things and going with Joyce's philosophy of letting go of the past.
You really gave a very full and thorough impression of what homelife is like for this little family. From Trista still habitually sitting on the floor (at Joyce's feet), to her seeking out Spike and Xander (sorry, William and Alexander) when she has nightmares, to just simple together time (now *with* baby! *g*); it's a really strong portrait and almost satisfies my yen for more "After the Big Damn Recovery" fic. I say almost because I *always* want more, though I've learned to be happy with what I've got. Though the comment that you still might write a few smaller stories in this 'verse makes me insanely happy.
And thank you, thank you, thank you for this wonderful series and these fabulous epilogues. Especially considering all the other fic you've written during the same time, it's an amazing accomplishment. And just grand reading.
