I'm glad you like that line. Jack isn't seeing a sentinel. I don't think he really gives a shit one way or the other. What he sees is a soldier who got damn creative and found a way around a lot of enemy traps. He definitely wants Jim on his team.

I worried about the POV shift, but this part of the story really did require Jim's perspective.
