Xander has a brood limit on him, so you know he's just not going to let the talky, sad stuff go on for too long. I'm glad that you enjoyed the more slapstick of this chapter. With Riley making his big appearance, I really wanted to shock him with vampires who definitely didn't do what he assumes vampires do. Yeah, Spike and Angel can do violence and mayhem when needed, but they also do slapstick, especially when Xander gets in the middle.
I think that Angel intended to take care of this because he wanted to keep the government away from both his boys, but neither Xander nor Spike is particularly good at staying out of the way. Angel should have known that.
BTW, thanks for the heads up on the lack of tagging. I wouldn't have noticed without the poking.
